Carolin Wagner - Ausfliegen (Flying out)
A german book about excursions in the Cologne area.
excursion are the new trend! but often enaugh there is a vast lack of ideas and helplessness, where to go. excursion directly translates into "to fly out" in german and that is the perfect solution for that misery: whether hiking, cycling or
"boating", whether aiming for the eifel, the "niederrhein" (lower rhein) or for the benelux-neighbours, whether with the family, or friends or alone - "flying out" represents the whole spectrum-
all presented sightings are within a range of 150 km around köln (cologne). the author, caolin wagner is not only elaboratin concrete tours, while strivng through the surrounding regions, but is allways looking for inspiring stories, curiousities and delicous specialities. apart from being a book full of information and service, it is as well an inspiring
storybook, that makes you wanna "fly out"!
carolin wagner, born in 1970, studied politics, economics, latinamerican literature and history in cologne and mexico. she works as a freelance author and tv journalist for magazin editorial departments (a.o. the WDR) since 2001
the Stadt-Revue writes in april 2005:
lunary landscapes and wineromantics
ausfliegen "flying out"
let's hightail it out of here! away from snow slush, 10°C and drizzle or bone-crushing humidity. and if only for a day or a weekend. all colognites know the desire to leave town - but the eternal question is - where to go?
Carolin Wagner's book answeres that question. the excursions "per pedes" or "per velo" are well assorted in six chapters, according to the individual mood and "escapes modus": "between breakfast and "tatort" ( a german cult crime tv series, normally shown between 20.15 to 22.00) the chapter is called, that is dedicated to spontanious excursion on sundays.
who wants to "sniff benelux air" needs alittle more available time at hand, the chapter "Familisch op Jück" (freely translated from the special cologne dialect into "family on the road") is dedicated to parents that need recoverment.
the texts are lightfooted, the descriptions from the start-up and tours are easy to understand, the numerous photos intensify the zest to undertake a little journey. and for all those, who think they are "know-alls" there is a wonderfull rubric "beyond the run of the mill" - in which not only bizarre lunary landscapes are offered, but as well the wonderfull tip, to really forget the stress of tow, by staying in the cloister königsmünster for the inner retreat.
